In the 1st month (Feb./Mar.) of 908, Tibetan envoys to the Later
Liang court offered gifts. The chief envoy and his deputy were
appointed to nominal Chinese offices (Wu-tai hui-yao 30:2a; Ts’e-fu
yüan-kuei p.5033; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 335:32a).
In the 12th month (Dec./Jan., 912)^27 of the Chinese year 911, a
Tibetan and a Uighur chief were received in audience at the Later
Liang court. The two chiefs and their 122 attendants prostrated them-
selves and presented letters and regional objects. They received gold
and silk (Wu-tai hui-yao 30:2a; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei 5034).
During the reign of Emperor Ming-tsung (926-933) of Later T’ang,
envoys of the Tibetan chief Sun Ch’ao brought gifts and were received
in audience. Ch’ao was given the empty titles of Inspector of Liang
commandery and Military Commissioner of the Army West of the
[Yellow] River. Each of the envoys was presented with a tiger skin (Chiu
wu-tai shih 138:3a; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 335:32a). Liang was the name of
the easternmost part of the Kan-su Corridor, a territory which Ch’ao
and his tribe inhabited, so that he became Inspector of what was his
already. The Army West of the [Yellow] River did not exist.
In the 11th month (Nov./Dec.) of 927,^28 Tibetan envoys to the
Later T’ang court offered gifts. With them were four Buddhist monks
who had brought two Tibetan texts. None at the Chinese court could
read the Tibetan script. In the 1st month (Jan./Feb.) of 928, each
envoy was appointed a general (Wu-tai hui-yao 30:2a; Wen-hsien t’ung-
k’ao 335:32a).
On Jan,7, 928 Tibetans offered gifts to the Later T’ang court (Hsin
Wu-tai shih 6:6a; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5034).
In the intercalary month (Sep./Oct.) of 928, Tibetans offered pres-
ents to the Later T’ang court (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5034).
In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) of 928, Tibetan envoys to the Later
T’ang court offered gifts. They were appointed Managers of Lances
(Wu-tai hui-yao 30:2a; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5034).
In the 11th month (Dec./Jan., 929) of the Chinese year 928,^29
Tibetans offered gifts to the Later T’ang court. The chief envoy was
appointed General of the Gentlemen Who Has Attached Himself to
