On June 8, 1156, Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court
to congratulate on the birthday of Kao-tsung^25 (Sung shih 31:9a).
On June 29, 1156, the last Northern Sung emperor Ch’in-tsung
died in Manchurian captivity. The Southern Sung court learned about
this only on June 14, 1161 (Sung shih 23:19a). (Chin shih 5:15a).
On Feb.12, 1157, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Nov.17, 1156.^26 On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the
Southern Sung court. They had arrived on Feb.8 (Sung shih 31:10b,
11a;Chin shih 5:15a).
On Feb.27, 1157, Sung envoys to the Chin court congratulated
on the birthday of the Dismissed Emperor. They had received their
orders on Nov.17, 1156 (Sung shih 31:10b; Chin shih 5:15b).
On June 27, 1156, Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court
to congratulate on the birthday of Kao-tsung^27 (Sung shih 31:11b).
On Feb.1, 1158, the New Year’s Day, Sung envoys congratulated
at the Chin court. They had received their orders on Dec.6, 1157. On
the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the Southern Sung court.
They had arrived on Jan.28 (Sung shih 31:12b; Chin shih 5:16a).
On Feb.16, 1158, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court congratu-
lated on the birthday of the Dismissed Emperor. They had received
their orders on Dec.22, 1157 (Sung shih 31:12b; Chin shih 5:16a).
In the 5th month (May/June) of 1158, a Master of Writing of the
Ministry of Arms and other Chin envoys to the Southern Sung court
congratulated on the birthday of Kao-tsung.^28 They had received their
orders on Apr.21 (Sung shih 31:13b; Chin shih 5:16b).
On Jan.21, 1159, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Oct.24, 1158. On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the
Southern Sung court. They had arrived on Jan.17 (Sung shih 31:14b;
Chin shih 5:17a).
On Feb.5, 1159, Sung envoys to the Chin court congratulated on
the birthday of the Dismissed Emperor. They had received their orders
