On Nov.20, 1195, a Master of Writing of the Ministry of Personnel
and other Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court to congratu-
late on the birthday of Ning-tsung.^64 They had received their orders
in the 8th month (Sep./Oct.) (Sung shih 37:8a; Chin shih 10:10b).
On Feb.1, 1196, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Oct.27. On the same day, a Master of Writing of the Bureau of Pun-
ishments and other Chin envoys congratulated at the Southern Sung
court. They had received their orders on Dec.18, 1195, and arrived
on Jan.28, 1196 (Sung shih 37:8a; Chin shih 10:11a, 11b).
On Sep.24, 1196, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
gratulated on the birthday of Chang-tsung. They had received their
orders on June 29 (Sung shih 37:9b; Chin shih 10:13a).
On Nov.8, 1196, a Master of Writing of the Ministry of Personnal
and other Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court to congratu-
late on the birthday of Ning-tsung.^65 They had received their orders
in the 9th month (Sep./Oct.) (Sung shih 37:10a; Chin shih 10:13a).
On Jan.20, 1197, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Oct.14, 1196. On the same day, the Army Commander of a Circuit
and other Chin envoys congratulated at the Southern Sung court. They
had received their orders on Dec.10, 1196, and arrived on Jan.16,
1197 (Sung shih 37:10a; Chin shih 10:13b, 14a).
On Oct.13, 1197, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
gratulated on the birthday of Chang-tsung.^66 They had received their
orders on July 19 (Sung shih 37:10b; Chin shih 10:16a).
On Nov.27, 1197, Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court
to congratulate on the birthday of Ning-tsung^67 (Sung shih 37:11a).
In the middle of December, 1197, the Grand Empress Dowager of
Southern Sung died. She had been the second empress of Kao-tsung.
On Dec.18, Ning-tsung sent an envoy to the Chin court to announce
her death (Sung shih 37:11b).
On Feb.8, 1198, the New Year’s Day, there was an eclipse of the
sun. The Chin court moved the celebration to Feb.10, on which day
the Southern Sung envoys congratulated. They had received their
