Psychology at New York University – Steinhardt, Jake’s research tends
towards a transdisciplinary approach via theoretical and philosophical
models and includes subjects like critical theory, embodiment, and desire
as well as their relation to praxis and clinical practice. His work has been
published in academic journals that include Psychoanalysis, Culture &
Society, Subjectivity, Mortality, Critical Horizons, Rhizomes, Journal for
Cultural Research, and others. He is under contract with Bloomsbury
Publishing for a forthcoming (2019) book entitled, Arts of Subjectivity: A
New Animism for the Post-Media Era.
Shose Kessi, PhD
Shose Kessi is Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the
University of Cape Town; Associate Professor in the Department of
Psychology; and co-director of the Hub for Decolonial Feminist
Psychologies in Africa. Her research centers on political psychology,
community-based empowerment and social change, exploring issues of
identity, such as race, class, and gender, and how these impact on people’s
participation in transformation efforts. A key focus is the development of
Photovoice methodology as a participatory action research tool that can
raise consciousness and mobilize community groups into social action.
