Sneaking into the Shinra building required a bit of stealth. Back on PS1 the idea of
avoiding random encounters was novel, though quite fiddly. If this moment makes an
appearance in Remake, we’d love to see how it’s done on modern tech.

Getting to the top of the Shinra building required
getting past puzzles that really changed up the
gameplay, from collecting keycards to reassembling a
model of Midgar in order to open up the road ahead.

6
While one character flees, Cloud can run around
a building’s rafters dropping barrels. Picking the
right one automatically killed the enemies below. We
wonder how this will be represented in Remake.

1
Cloud’s plan to infiltrate Don Corneo’s mansion
by dressing up as a beautiful woman results in
him investigating many leads for the right bits of gear,
having some odd encounters as he goes.

3
Jumping to catch the swinging
cable was one of the most
annoying parts of the original game.
Irritating as it was, we’d love to see the
odd bit of skilful platforming in Remake.

4
Because the road ahead is
dangerous Cloud tries sneak away
from Aerith. If she realises, she’ll send
you back to bed. A small-scale event
that represents the game’s heart.
