EliminatingthetribalelementmadeiteasierfortheAbbasidstocontrolthearmy
andtorecruitintoit
loyal
supportersofall
background.The Abbasidsengineeredthis

period,theMili-taryRegisterhad
playedavitalrolein
distinguishingArabiantribesmenfromotherMuslims.
Tribal
