HEN WE ASKED
The Green Knight
cinematogra-
pher Andrew
Droz Palermo to
tell us the tools of his trade, he
went medieval on us. No, really.
Usually with our What’s in Your
Kit? feature, directors of pho-
tography will tell us, you know...
what’s in their kit. What lenses
they use, what type of film, and
maybe a favorite scarf for keep-
ing warm.
Palermo went in a different
direction.
Director David Lowery’s
The Green Knight is an epic
adventure about Sir Gawain
(Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reck-
less nephew, who sets out to
battle the emerald-skinned Green
Knight, dealing with all manner
of fiends along the way. Judg-
ing from Palermo’s answers to
the “what’s in your kit?” question,
everyone involved in the film
seems very committed.
