MIND, BODY AND SOUL
The latest Psychonauts 2 trailer caused a stir at the Game Awards
in December, and since then the team at Doublefine has given us
a behind-the-scenes look at the production of both that trailer,
and the game as a whole. The game is now in Alpha, which means
every level is playable, the basics are in, and the team are now in
the finessing stage.
The good news, then, is that it’s getting closer, and the game
is looking great. The levels we’ve seen look very cool, and it’s full
of that Doublefine charm. With some of history’s ‘most cruelly
powerful psychic villains’ on the loose, the story’s shaping up
nicely, too. We’re looking forward to this one. Q

SLATHER YOURSELF IN RADIOACTIVE OOZE
Every time we see Biomutant it seems to have evolved a little
more – which is fitting, we suppose. We recently got a glimpse of
our mutated hero fighting one of those massive beasts you see in
the screenshots, and it looks suitably epic.
We also saw more of the world, which is looking bright,
colourful and full of freaky features. There’s weird wildlife and
odder enemies all over the place, including what looks like a giant
Sarlacc pit. The character designs are just as bizarre – we spotted
a nunchuk-wielding badger in a turban and a deep-sea diving rat,
to name just two. Are these combinations that you can apply to
your own character, or NPCs? There isn’t long till we find out. Q

DANGER IS ITS MIDDLE NAME
Ubisoft has been keeping fairly schtum about the nextTrials
game since its announcement at E3 2018. The closed beta in
September gave us a closer look at the title, which is... well,
aTrialsgame. The big news this time around is the addition
of that Tandem mode, which sees you and another player
controlling half of the bike’s acceleration and balance each.
It should be a huge amount of fun.
You’ll be racing across some more recognisable locations
inRising, too. AfterFusion’s futuristic vibe, seeing racers flip
of the Eiffel Tower and speed through Yellowstone national
park should be good fun.Q
Trials Rising ABOVE At first we
weren’t sure if
you’d actually
fight the huge
enemies. You do.
And they’re rock
‘ard.
LEFT The Tandem
bike is sure to
add even more
madness to the
multiplayer
options.
