ortal Kombatis back,
and somehow it’s more
gruesome and more
violent than ever before.
NetherRealm Studios
has outdone itself once again to bring
everyone cracked skulls, ripped spines,
gouged eyes and crushed rib cages.
MK 11game director and series co-
creator Ed Boon took to the stage at a
live-streamed event in LA and jumped
straight into showing off the first
gameplay footage as well as detailing
some of the improvements and
changes to the series.
Players will be able to create,
modify and collect multiple different
customisation options. You can heavily
customise each character with a
combination of outfits and gear, as
well as a different intro and victory
cutscenes. You can even decide on
which fatality and brutality finishers
you wish to use. The amount of
variations available will let you create
a completely unique character.
Speaking of characters, there’ll be
a huge roster, both old and new.
Confirmed so far are Sonya, Scarlet,
Baraka, Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden and
newest face Geras, who can manipulate
time and uses sand-based attacks.
Killing time
Previously theMortal Kombatgames
had you rely on one meter for your
moves and abilities, this time around
you have two separate bars that line
the bottom corners of the screen. The
horizontal bar is devoted to offensive
attacks whereas the vertical meter
looks after your defensive abilities.
Another addition is the Fatal Blow.
When your character’s health drops
below 30% you can press the LB and
RB buttons together to perform a
devastating move. Perfect for when
you want to level the playing field.
The story centres around a new
character, Kronika, a controller of time.
She’s stepped in to fix the damage
Raiden has caused due to his own
manipulation of time. We’re looking
forward to finding out more.Q
