Congratulations!Congratulations!
Projects
- Use the Internet to estimate the cost of your mascot
or logo. You will need to look up the materials that
are needed to assemble the design. Create a table that
includes all of the materials and the cost per unit of
each item. - Write your cost and profit equations.
- Create a presentation to share your design with the rest
of the class. Include the following in your presentation:
- drawings and coordinate grids with your design
- a 1–2 paragraph explanation of your design, including any
transformations - your cost and profi t equations
Making the Connection
Use the information from your design as needed to help in
these investigations.
Science
Research symmetry and where it is found in nature. What effect does
symmetry have on objects in nature?
Art
Create an art project that uses symmetry and transformations. Include an
explanation of where you used them and how they enhanced the artwork.
Language Arts
Suppose the school principal is deciding between your design and another
student’s to become the school’s new mascot or logo. Write a speech that
you can present to the principal that will encourage him or her to choose
your design.
Congratulations on completing your quest! Was your
design a hit? Do you think it could actually be bought in real
life? Who knows, maybe you’ll really start your own design
company one day. Now that you have some of the math tools
needed to make such a venture successful, we are sure your
designs will be booming.
- Use geometry software to create
possible logos or mascots. - Use a computer projector to
display your design for your
presentation.
