Some quadrilaterals have special names.

A parallelogram has opposite sides
that are parallel andthat are
the same length.
Quadrilateral ABCDis a parallelogram.

A rectangle also has opposite sides
that are parallel andthat are
the same length. All the angles
of a rectangle are right angles.
Quadrilateral EFGHis a rectangle.

A square has opposite sides that
are parallel. All its sides are the
same length. All the angles
of a square are right angles.
Quadrilateral JKLM is a square.

A rhombus has opposite sides that
are parallel. All four sides are the
same length.
Quadrilateral QRSTis a rhombus.

A trapezoid has exactly one pair
of parallel sides.
Quadrilateral WXYZis a trapezoid.

Identical marks indicate
congruent sides of the figure.
