- (D) The Fish and Wildlife Service, in the Department of the Interior, and the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the
Department of Commerce, share responsibility for the administration of the
Endangered Species Act. An endangered species is one that is in danger of
extinction throughout all or a significant portion of its range and is likely to
become endangered in the foreseeable future.
