8 th EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES BASKETBALL

CHAMPIONSHIP

The 8th European Universities Basketball Championship was

organised from July 21 to 27, 2008 in Novi Sad, Serbia. The

experienced Organising Committee, which has already host-

ed two EUSA championships in the past, welcomed 18 men

and 13 women teams from 16 European countries. In men’s

competition the gold medals went to students from the

Vytautas Magnus University who won in the finals against

the University of Belgrade 97:70. The team from Lithuania

was a winner also in the previous two years. In the women’s

competition, the teams from Gorzow Wielkopolski and Lju-

bljana who have dominated the championship for the last

four years, were far away from the finals in Novi Sad. The

Russian State Agricultural University became the new winner

after defeating the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan

67:57 in the finals.
