Barrons AP Psychology 7th edition

  1. (A) Runners in a park were found to pick up their pace when another runner came into view; this
    finding illustrates the phenomenon of social facilitation since it shows that the presence of others
    improved performance. Conformity involves a change in attitude or behavior to fit in with a group;
    if a runner ran faster to keep up with her soccer teammates, conformity could be at work.
    Deindividuation is a loss of self-restraint under conditions of high arousal and anonymity. Norms
    are standards of expected behavior, and roles are sets of expected behaviors for different members
    of an organization.
