CONJUNCTIONS: Conjunctions are words that connect parts of a sentence.


Conjunctions: and, but, or, yet, by, because, so, although, since, while...


I’ll give you a more in depth list later, but just remember conjunctions are direction words. All you have to ask is,


“Do I want to keep going the same direction, or switch?”

Same direction: I really enjoy running and want to sign up for the marathon.
Opposite direction: I really hate cilantro, but I will eat it if it comes in the burrito.


PREPOSITIONS: Prepositions are linking words that connect nouns, pronouns, and


phrases to other parts of a sentence.


Prepositions: with, for, to, on, beside, over, against, of...


Lou has no tolerance for loud children.
It is difficult to distinguish Tyler Winklevoss from Cameron Winklevoss.


I will give you a more comprehensive list of prepositions in the idiom section of this book. You should memorize
all the prepositions; not knowing them will cost you points.
