How did you find filming
the last series with all the
pandemic restrictions?
Filming was very different
to any another time. We
managed to finish the show
and fair play to all the cast
and mainly the production
that we managed it. It
does feel strange
because you want to kiss
someone and show your
feelings. And for me,
because it was my last
season, it was nice to do a
lot of filming with my family.
Would you ever rule out
doing more television in
the future?
No, don’t be daft!
Good! Would you ever
want to do a show as
a family?
That would be nice, wouldn’t
it? We’ll have to see what
the future holds. I don’t think
anybody has seen the last
of the Wards.
I hope not! It must be an
exciting time for you...
My family is growing by the
minute. Taylor’s in a very
serious relationship at the
moment and Darby’s getting
married. I’m sure I’m going to
be having grandchildren in the
not too distant future. I’ve got
so much to look forward to
and it’s time I focused on my
family. Ashley has just turned
50 and I fancy him more than
I did the day I met him. For
me and him personally, I don’t
know what’s different because
we’ve always had a great
relationship, but we’re better
now than we’ve ever been.
It’s just incredible.
Last year was difficult for
many of us. Looking back
at your 2020, how was it?
It was an incredible year, all
in all, for me. Lockdown was
a big thing as I was able to
spend a lot of time with my
family. Because I live such a
busy life and run my businesses
from home, I don’t really get
much time where I can sit and
think about what I really want
to do with my life. I’ve come
out of lockdown a different
person. It made me realise
what was important to me,
like my family and how I’m
going to run my businesses
differently. It was quite
life-changing for me.
Did you spend a lot of time
reflecting?
Yeah, loads. Actually, one day
can turn into a week and then
a month has gone by because
I’m so busy. It’s made me
step back and look at things
differently and prioritise my
time. I think it makes you
realise that you only get one
life and you’ve got to live it.
You tested positive for
coronavirus in August.
How did it affect you?
It floored me for a fortnight to
be honest. Even when I’m ill,
I can usually get up and go
about, but I couldn’t get out of
bed for two weeks. I just slept
a lot and had headaches. It
wasn’t pleasant, but I thank
my lucky stars because a lot
of people out there got it a lot
worse or even lost their lives.
Finally, what’s in store for
you this year?
I’ve just launched my new
website dawnwardofficial.com,
so that’s really exciting. We’ve
obviously got Darby’s wedding
and then we’ve got a few
exciting projects which I’m
sure you’re going to see.
