MARCH 2020 25

Get creative with customizable finishes.

Today’s appliance brands are giving yester-
day’s kitchens some much-needed color.
Green and blue are trending hues, and last
year True Residential added Emerald to its
Build Your True program of seven cus-
tomizable finishes. The shades are also
available on the brand’s new 36-inch
refrigerator column (from $10,500, true-
residential.com) with five hardware met-
als, from copper to pewter. Dacor offers
DacorMatch for its Heritage Collection of
wall ovens and ranges, which includes the
new Heritage 36" Dual Fuel Pro Range
($11,328, dacor.com). Along with five in-
house colors (with its own moody blue
called Dark Denim), Dacor can match any
color swatch for a custom look. Grohe’s
Essence Professional kitchen faucets
(from $751, http://www.grohe.us) feature 10
interchangeable hose colors that give the
spout some pop. The brand recently de-
buted three new finishes: Polished Nickel,
Brushed Cool Sunrise, and Hard Graphite.
And to create a prismatic backsplash, the
Echo glass mosaics from Artistic Tile ($70
per square foot, artistictile.com) provide a
diamond motif in Garden Green, a gray
London Fog, or Violin Violet.

Mixed metals shimmer and shine.

Mixed materials are stimulating in kitch-
ens, so brands are rolling out innovative
finishes. Samsung recently released the
latest version of its Family Hub refrigerator
($3,000, samsung.com) in a Tuscan Stain-
less Steel; the textured metal is warm gray
with a hint of brown. Meanwhile, GE’s
Café line (cafeappliances.com) launched
its Modern Glass Collection of cooking
products, dishwashers, and refrigerators,
which features thick sheets of glass over a
platinum finish that reflects light and is
easy to clean. Kohler created an ombré
finish for its Sensate faucet ($1,300, kohler
.com)—the exclusive melded fabrication
comes in materials like rose gold and pol-
ished nickel. The Rook Collection by Brizo
kitchen faucet (from $812, brizo.com) is
where the brand debuted its Brilliance
Polished Gold finish. It’s also the first col-
lection to feature the Brilliance Luxe Steel
finish, updating the faucet’s Craftsman-
style design. To contrast to all these shiny
new metals, there’s Cambria Blackpool
Matte (cambriausa.com). The matte black
quartz surface is silky, like soapstone, but
is nonporous and much more durable.
