2018 MARINE LAYER ARIES
SONOMA COAST CHARDONNAY
($35)
Baron Ziegler’s Marine Layer wines
source fruit from vineyards close to
Sonoma’s Pacific coast, resulting in
vivid, racy bottlings like this citrus-
zingy Chardonnay.
2018 LIOCO SONOMA COUNTY
CHARDONNAY ($22)
Lioco was early in the movement
to bring Chardonnay back from the
excesses of the all-oak-all-the-time
era. Its perfectly poised, lemony
Sonoma County Chardonnay is
a benchmark of this new, more
refreshing style.
2019 GAIL TWO CREEK FARM
CHENIN BLANC ($28)
Chenin Blanc is often underrated
as a California white. This single-
vineyard bottling from winemaker
Dan O’Brien’s label is brisk and
minerally, perfect with a springtime
salad (or, really, fresh greens or
vegetables of any kind).
2018 MARINE LAYER
GRAVENSTEIN VINEYARD PINOT
NOIR ($60)
Lifted, floral aromas and bright
pomegranate fruit notes define this
elegant single-vineyard Pinot Noir
from Sonoma County’s Sebastopol
Hills area. Baron Ziegler opened
several bottles to accompany Aria
Alpert Adjani’s slow-roasted lamb
shoulder—you should, too!
