Truck tires are designed to deliver longer mileage and heavier duty service than passenger car tires. The reason
for the long durable service under extreme conditions is because truck tires are built heavier. The carcass is
usually built of steel or heavy-duty synthetic materials. The rubber compound is usually much harder and
therefore lasts longer. Load-carrying capacity is higher, but ride quality is poor due to the stiff, durable
construction. Photo courtesy of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Used with permission.
