How to Make Your Car Last Forever: Avoid Expensive Repairs, Improve Fuel Economy, Understand Your Warranty, Save Money

This is a cutaway view of a typical electronic fuel injector in a multi-port system. An injector is an
electronically controlled and timed fuel sprayer. In a multi-port fuel-injection setup each cylinder has its own
fuel injector. The engine control module (ECM) electronically times when each injector sprays fuel into each
cylinder. This way the air-fuel mixture is timed and metered perfectly for each cylinder. Injector output is
adjusted by the ECM based on electrical inputs from various sensors located throughout the engine to
maximize fuel and combustion efficiency.
