A starter motor is a small high-output electrical motor powered by the battery when you turn the key to start
the engine. Starters vary in configuration. Some are small bodied to make for engine compartment room, and
the way in which they bolt to the engine can vary too. Most times they are located below the engine in the
engine compartment. Sometimes they are located on top of the engine. You will always find the starter in
close proximity to the flywheel because the flywheel is what the starter motor meshes with to crank the
engine to start.
