Automotive thermostats come in different temperature ranges to accommodate different operating
temperature ranges as specified by the carmaker. Thermostats are also critical in engine management. The
computer is constantly monitoring engine coolant temperature and making adjustments to the performance
system to ensure maximum efficiency. When the thermostat goes bad or is removed, the computer goes crazy
trying to compensate for the deviation from factory set parameters. The thermostat must operate properly for
the engine to run efficiently.
