Processing your Raw image files

YOU’VE CHOSEN TO MAKE THE SWITCH TO RAW, WHAT NEXT?

Raws need to be processed in an editor like Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw.
One of the best places to start is Lightroom’s Develop Module Basic panel.
We can enhance the tones, pull details out of the highlights and shadows,
set the white balance, boost colours and more. Raw editing is by definition
non-destructive.
You can’t alter the
make-up of the file or
save over it, you can
only change the way
it looks within your
processor. So any
edits can be changed
at any point. Once
you’re done, the
Raw can be exported
as a JPEG or TIFF.

Straight-out-of-
camera Raws can
disappointingly
look flat and lack
punch, but that’s
because you’re
expected to make
your own choices
on how they look.

When you choose Raw quality on

your camera, you’re making a

commitment to spend time
