CHAPTER 6. HOW BLUETOOTH WORKS.

Bluetooth is a wireless network that we use everyday to connect any device with Bluetooth
compatibility to the phones for multiple uses. TheBluetooth Tech is high speed low powered
technology with wireless facility which makes it veryuseful. It uses low power radio
communication for linking mobile phones, computers, and other devices that are compatible
with Bluetooth, over a short distance without wires.Wireless transmission through Bluetooth is
compatible for a range up to 30 feet. A device thatis compatible with Bluetooth is inbuilt with
low-cost transceivers. It supports on the frequencyband of 2.45GHz and can support up to
721KBps along with three voice channels. This wasset by international agreement for industrial,
scientific and personal uses.

With Bluetooth one is able to connect eight devicessimultaneously and each device represents
a unique 48-bit address from the IEEE802. But on ourmobile, we are able to connect only one
at a time.

Let’s see History of Bluetooth. It's actually reallyinteresting. One may wonder how the
fascinating name Bluetooth came from. Bluetooth wirelessnetwork got its name from Danish
Viking and King, Harland Blatand; his last name translatesto Bluetooth in English. He is
appraised with uniting Norway and Denmark, just asBluetooth unites two devices. Ericson first
decided to make Bluetooth in finding alternative ofusing cables for connecting mobile phones
with other devices in 1994. Then in 1998 companiesEricsson, Nokia, IBM and Toshiba formed
the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) and thenthe first Bluetooth was published in 1999.

The first version was 1.2 standard with the speedof 1Mbps. The Second version was 2.0+EDR
with a speed of 3Mbps. The latest is 4.0 with speedmore than 24Mbps. It is astonishing right
how technology is modernising and providing us withcomfort and many useful things.
