  1. Scalability

With limited staff and a current focus on
in-person events, there is a natural limit to how
far this program can expand. By focusing on an
online delivery option (live and asynchronous),
focusing on critical partnerships, and
optimizing the process for in-person
events, we can maximize return for time
spent by staff, thereby maximizing
effectiveness in terms of reaching parents.
We’ve identified some areas where there
may be room for additional optimization
for live events, but any efforts that can
multiply the effects of time spent by
CMH staff can allow for exponential
growth.

By scaling this program, it should
also naturally begin to address some of
the lack of representation by accessing
a larger pool of participants.

For the Prepped & Ready program to
grow significantly, we’ll need to either
expand the staffing of in-person events or
successfully transition this program into a
digital medium that allows for much
broader reach.

Key Findings

Trust is a crucial component for participants to
meaningfully receive information about weighty
topics like those discussed in Prepped & Ready. And
even more importantly, trust is required to change their
behavior based on that information. Developing that
trust will look different for different populations, but
when looking at the current program and the results of
current Prepped & Ready survey results, it’s clear that
there is a gap with 92% of survey completion being
white women.

Removing barriers of entry will help to make this
program more accessible to a more diverse audience,
but in addition to that, effort should be made to
include imagery, voices and perspectives that make this
content more relatable for more people, regardless of
background and identity.

While a more representative presentation may help
with reaching more people, there are some parent
segments that may be generally unreachable with this
message without significant additional expenditures of
resources due to the fundamental barriers.

“As a mental health provider I found the
information to be spot on. As a community
member I found the presentation to be
something we need and I’m glad it was
provided. There are still way way too many
people in this community that are in denial of
these issues.”
