I took this shotat the clay pan of Deadvleiin the late morning as thesunâs warm light painteda huge sand dune, andI waited for a tourist toappear in the frame. In my imagination theywere a human amid thedevils of the camelthorntrees, which died about800 years ago but neverdecomposed because theenvironment is so dry âan amazing phenomenon. This image reminds meof the beauty of Namibiaâslandscapes, and of a placeI will never forget.
