Eating the Right Types of Protein on the Perfect 10 Diet Is Not Negotiable
Take a moment to think about every low-fat diet you’ve tried. Chances are you
were told to eat more lean meats (soy, pork, and veal), egg substitutes, or egg
whites. You were told to avoid whole eggs, liver, shrimp, and lobster. And you
listened. Then came the lowcarb craze, which advised you to eat ham, bacon,
and sausage, and you also listened. But on the Perfect 10 Diet, eating the right
types of protein can mean the difference between life and death. You have a
choice and I hope I’ve made it clear what types of protein are good for your
health so you can start to implement these changes immediately.
Carmen’s Story in Her Own Words
I am 40 years old. I’m 5 feet, 6 inches, and I’ve been overweight since I
injured my back in a car accident many years ago. Several years ago, I gave
up on low-fat diets and followed one of the popular lowcarb programs. I
was rather nervous about eating ham and bacon for breakfast, but I
continued to do so since the diet seemed to work, and I lost a lot of weight.
Ham, sausage, and bacon with eggs or egg whites with smoked salmon
were my daily routine.
One day, I experienced severe back pain. I thought it was related to my
old injury, but it turned out to be kidney stones. My urologist analyzed the
stones and attributed them to my highprotein/lowcarb diet.
I consulted Dr. Aziz after hearing him on a popular New York radio
station. When I first met Dr. Aziz, I weighed 190 pounds. The Perfect 10
Diet principles were completely new and different from anything I had ever
heard or tried before.
On the Perfect 10 Diet, I ate much less protein than I had on the lowcarb
diet, but I still lost weight. I began to understand that my diet needed to be
balanced. I gave up eating protein snacks and started to eat more vegetables
and fruits. I ate avocados or eggs with fruit instead of bacon and sausage. I
gave up lowcarb protein shakes and lowcarb chocolate bars when I realized
both contained soy protein isolate. Now I only eat unprocessed food. I read
the labels and all the fine print on every food I buy so I’m not fooled into
buying products loaded with chemicals and trans fats. I also started
swimming to improve my back and my overall fitness level. I’ve lost 60
pounds in just a little more than a year, and I’ve never felt better. Today, I’m
