the same I still traveled to the school to try my luck, in fact, another
letter was sent to me by my father (it was purportedly sent by the
school, upon realizing that some of us did not receive the first
interview letters on time) to which he said that if I was not allowed
for the interview as stated in the first letter due to its lateness, I
could as well wait for the second date, but by then, I had already
been interviewed and was ready to come back to Lagos to await the
result. The letter of admission eventually came.
RESUMING COLLEGE
My resumption was quite remarkable being the first child in the
family that would be going to the boarding school, and having
waited that long to get admitted to school. I was not only the one to
be excited but my mother and father were too, if not even more.
There was too much anxiety for both parents and their son going
into the boarding house.
My mother ensured that, all items on the list sent along with my
admission letter were bought and most of them were bought even
in double.
I was given a rosy welcome at home (in the village) and I had to be
introduced to some families that had one or more child(ren) in the
college already, incidentally my wife's family was among, though I
was yet to know her then (How mysterious is our God).
Not long after, I was known both in the school and town. At a
certain time, I became a day student (playing pranks). I stayed a
while with my grandmother and my staying with her was quite
noteworthy as most of the time we were not friends, to the point of
not giving me food, hence I had to fend for myself (I quickly learnt
to be self dependent at that early age). In fact, I had my cooking
utensils, because I had to cook for myself.
my body about 20mins later, when my canvas was being removed.
I also saw one of my wife's uncles and I beckoned to him to at least
pass some information to him, but he disappeared from the scene. I
later found out that the man was traveling to our home town that
very day. On getting home, he did not mention anything until the
third day that he went to my mother-in-law. He actually thought I
would not have survived it and he was taking time before he could
relay the 'sad' news, but that did not happen as God made a way of
escape as He had promised us through the motto – Ps. 1 18:17.
All efforts to get a vehicle to convey us to the hospital proved futile
as no vehicle wanted to stop to help us until a Mercedes Benz 500
SEL belonging to Chief Lai Balogun pulled up and stopped.
At the hospital, we were promptly attended to due to the
personality that took us there. He left almost immediately after
taking us there.
My hair was shaved due to the lodgment of broken glasses and
even my fingers. I was writhing in pains. The management of our
company was contacted and an arrangement was made quickly for
us to be moved to Lagos. We were eventually taken to Humanna
Hospital at about 12 mid-night that day.
I was admitted immediately and had to remain in the hospital for
four weeks; 3 weeks of which I had to use a weight to correct my
spinal cord which was reported to have shifted slightly, and was
said if not corrected, could lead to paralysis.
After I was discharged from the hospital, I was on neck collar for
some weeks and went through physiotherapy for a while.
The accident was actually targeted at me (as it was revealed later),
