hedgehogs and I know from experience that hedgehogs have to be
dealt with quickly or it gets out of hand, so naturally I filled the hut with
creme fraiche. No one even said thank you. Fortunately all the foil
made it really easy to clean up. The final straw in the saga was when
Rex pooped on a plate and left it on my bed. He’d got overexcited
and pranked me instead of Ollie!
“This is disgusting!” Julia exclaimed, turning to Ollie. Julia has
thoughts and emotions. “Why would you do that?” she asked.
“I didn’t!” Ollie protested. But nobody believed him.
“Oh man,” Kit said. “You messed up big time bro. This is huge!”
He meant both metaphorically and actually.
“Who else would have done it?” Julia demanded. Now was my
time to speak up, but I couldn’t. I have never had Jordan’s courage to
face up to things that I fear. I was afraid they would all think I was
crazy, or a terrible liar, if I told them about Rex and Muncho. I felt I had
no choice but to say nothing at all. Kit and Julia really let loose telling
Ollie he was a cad, a wastrel and a scally goon. Ollie was crushed. I
still feel pretty bad about it. I had let Ollie down, I’d let my parents
down, I’d let the school down, and more importantly, I had let myself
down. And even more importantly I’d let Ollie down.
