Barra do Furado é a sede de um Distrito de Quissamã. A vila fica na ponta leste da restinga de Jurubatiba, uma das duas
do norte fluminense e ainda com ambientes nativos protegidos pelo Parque Nacional da Restinga de Jurubatiba.
Barra do Furado is the head office of a Quissamã District. The village is located in the east end of the Jurubatiba restinga, one of the
two northern Fluminense restingas, which still have native environments protected by the Jurubatiba Restinga National Park.
BARRA DO FURADO
“Agora, na restinga de Barra do Furado, a gente está
usando pipa para pesca de mar. A gente faz uma arma-
ção de vergalhão e cobre com plástico. Amarra a pipa
na rede e solta. A pipa arrasta a rede pro mar. A tarde, a
gente puxa a pipa e recolhe a rede com os peixes.”Now, at Barra do Furado restinga, we are using kite for sea
fishing. We make a rebar frame and cover it with plastic. We tie
up the kite to the net and fly it. The kite drags the net to the sea.
In the afternoon, we pull the kite back and collect the net with
