northwallarestuffedwithdustypaperscraps.Severallong-

deadcorpses—gnomesandoresbytheirlook—aresprawled

acrossthefloor.

Thecenturies-oldpaperinthecubbyholesdisintegrates
iftouched,butacharacterwhoreadsDwarvishcansee
faintmarkingsonafewscraps,recordingweigh-insand
disbursements.

Behindthecountersitsalockedironstrongbox,requiring
thieves’toolsandasuccessfulDC 20 Dexteritycheckto
open.Thispaychestwasoverlookedinthefightingand

contains 600 cp, 180 sp, 90 ep,and (^60) gp.

6. SouthBarracks

Thiswasaminers’barracks,wheretheskilleddelvers
workinginWaveEchoCaverestedbetweenshifts.Any
characterwholistensatthepartiallyopendoorhearsfaint
crunchingandsplinteringsoundswithasuccessfulDC 10
Wisdom(Perception)check.

Oldstonebunksinorderlyrowslinethewallsofthis

chamber,andacorrodedironbrazierfullofoldcoalsstands

nearthemiddleoftheroom.Thebonesofahalfdozen

dwarvesandoresliestrewnabout,cladinscrapsofarmor.

Threegray,hunchedfiguressquatamongtheremains,

pawingatthescrapsandgnawingonthebones.

Threeghoulsfromthepackinarea 9 arehere,cracking
andgnawingontheancientbonesofthefalleninthevain
hopethatsometastymorselofmarrowremains.The
ghouls,eagerforafreshmeal,attackimmediately.

7. RuinedStoreroom

Despitethedestructionallaround,thenorthernpartof
thisstorageareahassurvivedintact.

Theeasternwallofthischamberhascollapsedintoamassof

rubble.Tothenorth,adoorstandsajar,leadingtoagood-

sizedstoreroom.Dustykegsaretuckedneatlyagainstthe

walls,allofthemcrackedandsplitopenfromage.

It’snotcomfortable,butthestoreroomisasecure
restingplace.Nomonsterscomethisway.Moreover,the
storeroomdoorisingoodshapeandcaneasilybeblocked
orbarredfromtheinside.
Thecontentsofthekegshavelongevaporated.

8. Fungi Cavern

ThiscavehashinderedNezznar’sexplorations.Thedrow
suspectsthatthemine’smagicworkshopsarecloseby,but
he’sreluctanttoriskdealingwiththemonstershere.

Densecarpetsofweirdfungicoverlargesectionsofthefloor

inthiscavern.Thegrowthincludespuffballsafootacross,

weirdshelffungusgrowingonstalagmites,andlargestalks

andcapsagoodfivefeettall.Someofthepuffballsglowwith

aneeriegreenphosphorescence.

Mostofthefungiisharmless,andthegreen-glowingfungi

allowcreaturestoseetheentirecavernwithouttheaidof

darkvisionoralightsource.

PoisonGas.Wheneveracreatureattemptstocross

thecavern,thecarpetsoffungithatcovermostofthe

floorreleasepoisonousgasintotheair.Eachcreaturein

thecavernmustsucceedonaDC 11 Constitutionsaving

throwortake3d6poisondamageandbepoisonedfor 10
