chemically subdued with psychotropic medications. In
thenice ones, a staff member cracks a joke,wags an
affectionatefinger,andtakesyourbrowniestashaway.In
almostnonedoesanyonesitdownwithyouandtry to
figureoutwhatlivingalifereallymeanstoyouunderthe
circumstances,let alone helpyoumake a homewhere
that life becomes possible.

phaseofthehumanlifecyclebytryingnottothinkabout
it.Weendupwithinstitutionsthataddressanynumberof
