101. Who He Is to You

You are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.
John 1:49

ORSH I Pbegins when we look to Jesus and tell him who he
is to us. In John 1, Nathanael recognized the divinity of
Jesus merely because Jesus had seen him under a tree and called him
by name. That’s when he confessed him as the Messiah.
Later Jesus asked Peter, “Who do you say I am?” Peter readily
replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of God” (Matt. 16:15–16).
All who had been at our Lord’s baptism in the Jordan heard John
the Baptist officially identifying his cousin, saying, “This is the Lamb
of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)
And after his baptism, his heavenly Father sent down the Holy
Spirit and said in a booming voice, “You are my Son, whom I love;
with you I am well pleased” (Luke 3:22).
But what about you? Have you come to a place in your spiritual
journey where you know for certain who Jesus is to you—not who
he is to others, but to you? Not who sermons or spiritual books say
that he is, but who he has come to be in your life?
