Now that you created your WSFC cluster, you must set up your availability group in SQL
Server. To begin, you fi rst need to enable AlwaysOn on each node.- Open SQL Server Confi guration Manager, and go to SQL Server Services node.
- Right-click the service for the SQL Server 2012 instance, and from the context
menu select Properties. - Click the AlwaysOn High Availability tab. The name of the Windows failover clus-
ter name is automatically populated for you. Check the box for Enable AlwaysOn
Availability Groups, as shown in Figure 27-18, and click OK. To take effect, this
requires a service restart.

Enabling AlwaysOn Availability Groups.- Open Management Studio, and connect to the instance you want to use as your
primary replica. Under the instance, expand the AlwaysOn High Availability node,
right-click the Availability Groups folder, and select New Availability Group Wizard.
Click Next at the Introduction screen. - Provide a unique name (not the cluster name) for your availability group, and
click Next. - From the Select Databases screen, select the databases you want to be in the avail-
ability group. Under the Status column, as shown in Figure 27-19, it tells you if the
