Phone.com. Merged with Software.com and renamed Openwave Systems, Inc., in November


  1. Openwave serves over 150 communications service providers with an aggregate of over
    500 million subscribers. The new firm’s portfolio of products includes wireless Internet
    infrastructure and browsers, unified messaging, mobile e-mail, directory services, voice
    processing, synchronization, and instant messaging.
    Lucent (MCS). Creates a voice platform believed to be more scalable than competitors. Used by
    Phonerun.
