allowed in the chimney with WHRS on condition. This will help in reducing
clinker dust loading to chimney and also reduction in power consumption of
ESP fan.



  • Hot Air Recirculation Duct – Suppliers are asked to design for rerouting of
    hydraulic lines in such a way that all the vent gases can be recycled back to
    cooler.

  • Clinker temperature shall be 65 + ambient temperature
    We had a detailed discussion with all OEM of coolers also with IKN for higher
    efficiency cooler with lesser maintenance. HRB is considered against standard
    hammer breaker because HRB is more robust and reliable during overloading
    due to bigger size of clinker ball and also has lower maintenance due to
    improved wear component.
    It was also discussed to place the HRB at intermediate position for better WHRS
    potential, but seeing to the overall cost impact due to increase in height of kiln and
    preheater we have not considered an intermediate HRB. It was also discussed since
    the petcoke fired clinker is already with lower grain size so potential of heat release
    in case if intermediate HRB shall be less.
    13.5 Operating Mechanism & Special Design Features
    13.5.1 FLS: Cross Bar CB 18 X 61 with ABC inlet
    a. Operating Mechanism:

  • Cooling of clinker isdone by air distribution plates and conveying is done
    by cross bars.

  • In auto mode all cross bars will move forward simultaneously and alternate
    lane will move backward. In case of any problem / issue one can operate it
    manually as per requirement.

  • Mechanical Flow regulators are provided for proper distribution of air on
    clinker bed.

  • Dead bed of clinker of 50 mm is required to save the mother plate with
    direct contact of hot clinker.

  • Vertical aeration by air flow is used for hot clinker cooling.
    b. Design Concept:

  • Static inlet section with air blast control (ABC inlet) to avoid snowman
    formation.

  • Separate clinker conveying and cooling concept.

  • Self-adjusting mechanical flow regulators.

  • Horizontal design of cooler with optimized transport control.

  • No undergrate dust collection and conveying is required.
    c. Design Care for Snowman: Air blaster also installed beneath the cooler plates
    apart from front & side wall (ABC inlet) in fixed inlet zone to remove the
    snowman from root.
