Spleen and Kidney Deficiency, Essence Leaking
Clinical Manifestations
This pattern is characterized by severe and chronic deficiency of Spleen and Kidneys and
pronounced albuminuria. As explanied above, the presence of protein in the urine is seen in
Chinese medicine as a leakage of Kidney-Essence.
Other clinical manifestations include a withered and sallow complexion, mental depression,
soreness of the lower back, weakness of the knees, a Pale tongue and a Weak Pulse.
Treatment Principle
Strengthen the Spleen, tonify Kidney-Yang, nourish Yin and Essence.
