Explanation



  • Sheng Di, Shu Di, Shan Zhu Yu and Shan Yao nourish Liver- and Kidney-Yin.

  • Rou Gui warms Kidney-Yang.

  • Gou Qi Zi, Tu Si Zi, Jin Ying Zi and Lu Jiao Shuang consolidate the Kidneys and
    nourish Essence.


Kidney- and Heart-Yang Deficiency Qi-Blood Stagnant


Clinical Manifestations


This pattern is seen only in old people with severe deficiency of Kidney- and Heart-Yang
causing Phlegm-Fluids to overflow upwards towards the Heart.


There are some symptoms and signs of Kidney-Yang deficiency such as a lower backache,
difficulty in walking, chilliness, tinnitus, dizziness, blurred vision, profuse urination at night, a
Pale tongue and a Deep and Weak pulse. The symptoms and signs of Heart-Yang deficiency with
Phlegm-Fluids overflowing are palpitations, breathlessness and a dull headache. The headache is
due to failure of Heart Qi and Blood to reach the head.


When Yang is deficient over a long period of time, it often gives rise to stasis of Blood. The
main manifestations of this would be pain in the limbs and a Bluish-Purple tongue. Due to the
