Explanation



  • Ren Shen and Bai Zhu tonify Spleen-Qi.

  • Sha Ren, Huo Xiang and Hou Po fragrantly resolve Dampness and benefit the muscles.

  • Fu Ling and Bian Dou drain Dampness. Bian Dou also mildly tonifies the Spleen.

  • Ban Xia helps to resolve Dampness by resolving Phlegm.

  • Xing Ren helps to resolve Dampness by promoting the descending of Qi and therefore
    helping the draining of Dampness.

  • Mu Gua resolves Wind-Damp and benefits sinews.

  • Gan Cao harmonizes.


Variations



  • To treat Atrophy Syndrome add herbs to benefit channels such as Ji Xue Teng Caulis
    Millettiae seu Caulis Spatholobi and Wu Jia Pi Cortex Acanthopanacis radicis for the
    lower limbs, and Gui Zhi Ramulus Cinnamomi cassiae for the upper limbs.

  • If there is pronounced Dampness in the muscles (manifested with numbness and a feeling
    of heaviness) add Fang Ji Radix Stephaniae tetrandae for the upper limbs and Bi Xie
    Rhizoma Dioscoreae hypoglaucae for the legs.
