Explanation


This formula, which has already been explained in Chapter 20, tonifies Kidney-Yang and
reduces urination.


Variations



  • To harmonize Blood (stop bleeding, eliminate stasis, calm and nourish Blood) add Xiao
    Ji Herba Cephalanoplos segeti, Pu Huang Pollen Typhae, Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae
    albae and Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis.

  • To astringe: no addition is necessary as the formula already contains Shan Zhu Yu, Wu
    Wei Zi and Chi Shi Zhi.

  • To treat Qi add Sheng Ma Rhizoma Cimicifugae to raise Qi.


Bleeding Under the Skin (Petechiae)


Bleeding under the skin consists of bruising and is common in old people. In young people, it
occurs in leukaemia. Bleeding under the skin also occurs at the Blood-Level stage of an acute
febrile disease when it indicates Blood-Heat.
