This prescription would be particularly indicated if the hands are very cold.


Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang
(Poria-Ramulus Cinnamomi-Atractylodes-Glycyrrhiza Decoction)


Fu Ling Sclerotium Poriae cocos 12 g
Gui Zhi Ramulus Cinnamomi cassiae 9 g
Bai Zhu Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae 6 g
Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 3 g

Explanation


This formula treats Phlegm-Fluids obstructing the epigastrium and chest with such
manifestations as a feeling of fullness and oppression of the chest, a feeling of cold, coughing of
white-watery-frothy sputum (characteristic of Phlegm-Fluids), shortness of breath and dizziness.
The tongue would be Pale, Swollen, with teethmarks and a sticky-white coating.


Variations


These variations apply to all previous formulae.



  • In case of very severe and stabbing pain in the chest, cold limbs, cold sweating, cyanosis
    of lips and Knotted pulse, use one of the two following prescriptions:


Tong Mai Si Ni Tang and Su He Xiang Wan
(Penetrating the Blood Vessels Four-Rebellious Decoction and Styrax Pill)


Tong Mai Si Ni Tang
FU ZI Radix Aconiti carmichaeli praeparata 15 g
GAN JIANG Rhizoma Zingiberis officinalis 9 g
ZHI GAN CAO Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 6 g

Explanation


This prescription rescues the Yang and dispels Cold.
