• G.B.-34 soothes the Liver and eliminates stagnation. In combination with Ren-12, it
  eliminates stagnation in the epigastrium.

In cases of severe emotional tension other points can be added, especially the following
combination:

• P-7 Daling, T.B.-3 Zhongzhu, Du-24 Shenting and G.B.-13 Benshen. P-7 and T.B.-3
  could be used unilaterally, one on the left and the other on the right side.

This combination of points is very effective in eliminating stagnation of Liver-Qi and calming
the Mind whenever there are severe emotional problems, especially if associated with
relationship difficulties. It is particularly indicated for women. In men, it is better to replace P-7
with HE-7 Shenmen.

Chai Hu Su Gan Tang
(Bupleurum Soothing the Liver Decoction)

Chai Hu Radix Bupleuri 6 g

Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae albae 4.5 g

Zhi Ke Fructus Citri aurantii 4.5 g

Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 1.5 g

Chen Pi Pericarpium Citri reticulatae 6 g

Xiang Fu Rhizoma Cyperi rotundi 4.5 g

Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici wallichii 4.5 g

Explanation

• Chai Hu, Bai Shao, Chuan Xiong and Xiang Fu soothe the Liver and eliminate
  stagnation.


• Chen Pi, Zhi Ke and Gan Cao regulate Qi and harmonize the Stomach.

Variations

• If the pain is very severe add Yan Hu Suo Rhizoma Corydalis yanhusuo and Yu Jin
  Tuber Curcumae.
