Water passages.


Heat Painful-Urination Syndrome


Clinical Manifestations


Frequent, scanty and difficult urination, burning pain on urination, dark urine with a strong
smell, hypogastric pain, a bitter taste, nausea, pain on the sacrum, constipation, thirst.


Tongue: yellow-sticky coating on the root with red spots.


Pulse: Slippery on the left Rear position and slightly Rapid.



  • If it occurs with an invasion of exterior Wind: aversion to cold, shivers, fever, headache,
    aches in the body and a Floating pulse.


Although this is called Heat Painful-Urination Syndrome, the condition is one of Damp-Heat in
the Bladder, with Heat predominant. There are two other possible conditions when Bladder-Heat
is transmitted from Liver-Fire or from Heart-Fire. In these cases, in addition to the above
manifestations, there would be the following symptoms and signs:


Liver-Fire


Irritability, headache, dizziness, tinnitus, a Red tongue with redder sides and a Wiry-Rapid pulse.


Heart-Fire


Insomnia, tongue ulcers, mental restlessness, a Red tongue with a redder tip and a Rapid pulse
which is Overflowing on the left Front position.


Treatment Principle


Clear Heat, drain Dampness, open the Water passages.



  • For Liver-Fire: soothe the Liver and drain Fire.

  • For Heart-Fire: drain Heart-Fire and calm the Mind.

  • If with an exterior invasion: release the Exterior, expel Wind and open the Water
    passages.
