Clinical Manifestations


Full type: difficult and painful urination, hypogastric pain and distension, irritability, Wiry and
Deep pulse.


Empty type: difficult urination, weak stream, slight hypogastric distension, tiredness, Pale
tongue, Weak pulse.


Treatment Principle


Full type: move Qi, eliminate stagnation, open the Water passages.


Empty type: tonify and raise Qi, open the Water passages.

Ren-3 Zhongji, Ren-5 Shimen, BL-28 Pangguangshu, LIV-3 Taichong, LIV-5 Ligou, LIV-8
Ququan, BL-64 Jinggu, SP-6 Sanyinjiao, ST-36 Zusanli, Ren-6 Qihai, Du-20 Baihui, LU-7
Lieque, KI-6 Zhaohai, S.I.-3 Houxi and BL-62 Shenmai. Reducing or even method for the Full
type and reinforcing method and moxa for the Empty type.


Ancient prescription: KI-1 Yongquan, G.B.-34 Yanglingquan and Ren-5 Shimen ("Gatherings
from Eminent Acupuncturists" 1529).12(425)


Explanation



  • Ren-3 and BL-28, respectively Front-Collecting and Back-Transporting point of the
    Bladder, regulate Qi in the Bladder.

  • Ren-5, Front-Collecting point of the Triple Burner, eliminates stagnation in the Lower
    Burner.

  • LIV-3 moves Liver-Qi and eliminates stagnation.

  • LIV-5 moves Liver-Qi in the Liver Connecting channel which flows to the urethra and
    genitalia.

  • LIV-8 moves Liver-Qi in the Liver channel in the hypogastric region.
