Ren-12 Zhongwan to tonify Qi in general and Spleen-Qi in particular.
Ren-6 Qihai to tonify and raise Qi in the lower abdomen. It combines
well with Du-20 to tonify and raise Qi to treat enuresis, incontinence
and prolapses.
ST-36 Zusanli and SP-6 Sanyinjiao to tonify Stomach and Spleen.
KI-3 Taixi with moxa on needle to tonify and warm the Kidneys.
Ren-4 Guanyuan with moxa box to tonify and warm the Kidneys.
BL-23 Shenshu and BL-20 Pishu to tonify Kidney-Yang and
Spleen-Yang respectively.
Herbal treatment The patent remedies used were three: Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan Golden
Chest Kidney-Qi Pill (10 pills in the morning) to tonify Kidney-Yang,
Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan Tonifying the Centre and Benefiting Qi Pill (10
pills at lunchtime) to tonify and raise Qi, and Jin Suo Gu Jing Wan
Golden Lock Consolidating the Essence Pill (10 pills in the evening) to
absorb leakages. The combination of acupuncture and these remedies
produced an improvement of about 70% in her urinary symptoms and
she also felt much better in general. She later had a consultation with
Prof. Zhou Zhong Ying on the occasion of his visit to England and he
prescribed a variation of Suo Quan Wan Contracting the Spring Pill as a
decoction:
Shan Yao Radix Dioscoreae oppositae 10 g
Yi Zhi Ren Fructus Alpiniae oxyphyllae 10 g
Wu Yao Radix Linderae strychnifoliae 10 g
Tu Si Zi Semen Cuscutae 10 g
Yin Yang Huo Herba Epimedii 5 g
Shu Di Huang Radix Rehmanniae glutinosae praeparata 10 g
Huang Qi Radix Astragali membranacei 12 g
Chuan Jiao Zi Semen Zanthoxyli bungeani 3 g
Fu Pen Zi Fructus Rubi 10 g
Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 3 g
Explanation The first three herbs constitute the Suo Quan Wan to warm the Kidneys
and stop incontinence.
Tu Si Zi and Yin Yang Huo tonify and warm Kidney-Yang.
Shu Di Huang tonifies the Kidneys.
Huang Qi tonifies and raises Qi.
