Chuan Jiao warms the Kidneys.

Fu Pen Zi warms the Kidneys and reduces urination.

Gan Cao harmonizes.

She stopped the patent remedies and took this decoction for 2 months:
this produced a further improvement in her urinary symptoms which
disappeared almost completely. She also felt a lot more energy. After 3
months of taking this decoction, she asked to change to taking it as a
powder. We did this, but, interestingly, the powders did not work as
well as the decoction, and she herself decided to go back to the
decoction for a further 2 months, after which she did not need to take it
any longer.

Kidney-Yin Deficiency


Clinical Manifestations


Incontinence of urine but in scanty amounts, dribbling after urination, dark urine, dry throat,
dizziness, tinnitus, night-sweating, 5-palm heat, insomnia.


Tongue: Red without coating.


Pulse: Floating-Empty.


Treatment Principle


Tonify the Kidneys and nourish Yin.

General Prescription


Ren-4 Guangyuan, KI-3 Taixi, SP-6 Sanyinjiao, BL-23 Taixi, BL-28 Pangguangshu. Reinforcing
method, no moxa.


Explanation



  • Ren-4, KI-3 and SP-6 nourish Kidney-Yin.

  • BL-23 and BL-28 tonify Kidney-Qi and strengthen the Bladder function. Points in the
    back are used as, although there is a deficiency of Yin, it is still necessary to tonify the
    Yang within the Yin to control fluids.
