Acupuncture


General Prescription


L.I.-4 Hegu, T.B.-5 Waiguan, LU-7 Lieque, BL-12 Fengmen, BL-13 Feishu, L.I.-6 Pianli,
L.I.-10 Shousanli, Du-26 Renzhong, Ren-17 Shanzhong, ST-36 Zusanli. Reducing method;
cupping may be applied to BL-12 and BL-13.


Explanation



  • L.I.-4, T.B.-5, LU-7, BL-12 and BL-13 release the Exterior, expel Wind and restore the
    Lung's dispersing and descending function.

  • L.I.-6 opens the Water passages and resolves acute oedema of the upper limbs and face.

  • L.I.-10 is an important local point for the arms, used here to resolve oedema.

  • Du-26 is used as a local point for facial oedema. The old name of this point was Shuigou
    which means "water ditch".

  • Ren-17 stimulates the descending of Lung-Qi.

  • ST-36 harmonizes Nutritive and Defensive Qi and removes fluids from the space
    between skin and muscles.

  • Oedema of face and limbs with fever: KI-6 Zhaohai, Du-26 Renzhong, L.I.-4 Hegu,
    ST-36 Zusanli, G.B.-41 Zulinqi, L.I.-11 Quchi and ST-36 Zusanli ("Great Compendium
    of Acupuncture" 1601).

  • Oedema of upper body: Du-26 Renzhong with reducing method and Ren-9 Shuifen with
    direct moxa cones ("Great Compendium of Acupuncture" 1601).
