Kidney-Yang Deficiency


Clinical Manifestations


Oedema of the whole body or legs, pitting on pressure, sore back and knees, feeling cold
especially in the back and legs, urination scanty or profuse but very pale, tiredness, depression,
bright-white complexion.


Tongue: Pale, Swollen.


Pulse: Deep-Weak.


Treatment Principle


Tonify and warm the Kidneys and resolve oedema.


Acupuncture


General Prescription


Ren-4 Guanyuan, BL-23 Shenshu, BL-20 Pishu, ST-36 Zusanli, KI-7 Fuliu, BL-22 Sanjiaoshu,
ST-28 Shuidao. Reinforcing method on all points except the last two. Moxa should be used.


Explanation



  • Ren-4, with moxa, tonifies Kidney-Yang.

  • BL-23 and KI-7 tonify Kidney-Yang.

  • BL-20 and ST-36 tonify the Spleen. In oedema from Kidney-Yang deficiency it is
    essential to tonify the Spleen as well.

  • BL-22 and ST-28 resolve oedema.

(Kidney-Qi Pill from "Ji Sheng Fang" and True Warrior Decoction)


Fu Zi Radix Aconiti carmichaeli praeparata 3 g
Gui Zhi Ramulus Cinnamomi cassiae 3 g
