This formula tonifies and warms the Spleen and resolves Dampness and oedema.



  • Fu Zi and Gan Jiang warm the Spleen and Kidneys and expel Cold.

  • Fu Ling resolves Dampness.

  • Mu Gua resolves Wind-Dampness and transforms turbidity from the Middle Burner.

  • Bai Zhu tonifies Spleen-Qi.

  • Hou Po, Da Fu Pi and Cao Guo fragrantly resolve Dampness.

  • Mu Xiang moves Qi, which helps to resolve Dampness.

  • Gan Cao harmonizes.


Variations



  • If Qi deficiency is pronounced add Dang Shen Radix Codonopsis pilosulae and Huang Qi
    Radix Astragali membranacei.

  • If urine is scanty add Gui Zhi Ramulus Cinnamomi cassiae and Ze Xie Rhizoma
    Alismatis orientalis.

Explanation


This remedy tonifies Spleen-Yang and expels internal Cold. Although it does not treat the
Manifestation directly, it can be used for oedema to treat the Root (Spleen-Yang deficiency).
