Flicking, flashing, and fluttering .........................................................
Fluttering your eyelids is usually associated with flirting, but is also a gesture
you may find yourself using when you’ve been put on the spot and have to
come up with a quick answer. Or, it can simply mean that you’ve got some-
thing in your eye causing an irritation, in which case, you probably rub your
eye after fluttering for a moment or two. Flashing eyes indicate hot emotions
like anger or resentment although if you flash your eyebrows (refer to the
preceding section) you’re suggesting agreement or interest.To flick your eyes over a person or an object shows a modicum of interest
which, depending on the response of the person or the amount of curiosity
you feel for the object, can move into a longer gaze.Figure 5-4:
